Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam better known as A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was the 11th and the most loved President of India. Though he was a scientist who made our country proud with his missile defence programme his favourite job was ‘teaching’.
On July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the IIM Shillong, Kalam fell down suffering a stroke and passed away. In 2010, taking in consideration his love for students and focus on promoting education, the United Nations declared his birthday as ‘World Student’s Day’.

Kalam died on 27 July 2015 at IIM Shillong while delivering a lecture to students. His last words reportedly were to his long-time aide Srijan Pal Singh “Funny guy! Are you doing well?”
In a long Facebook post three years ago, Singh penned a heartfelt tribute to his mentor, reliving the minutes before after his sudden death due to cardiac arrest.
