December 3 marks the annual celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. This day is dedicated towards creating awareness regarding challenges faced by disabled people.

The famous dancer and TV actress Sudha Chandran met with an accident, at the age of 17.
Her life was changed when she was given an artificial leg. But she did not lose her hope and overcame her disability. Because of her passion and spirit, she became one of the most popular classical dancers of the country. We have seen her in many programs and films. She taught us that disability is not a weakness.
Disability- Arunima Sinha lost her left leg in an incident on April 11, 2011.
Her life took a complete turn when some criminals threw Arunima Sinha off a moving train. She lost her leg in the incident. But the loss of a limb did not hinder Arunima from scaling the highest hurdles and She became the first Indian woman amputee to climb Everest.
Disability: He has only one hand
Hailing from Haryana, Bharat Kumar is a paralympic swimmer. Despite poverty and disability he has made India proud by winning over 50 medals in para- swimming contests.
Disability: He lost his one hand at the age of 8
When Devendra was 8 years old, He was trying to climb a tree and accidentally got electrocuted. His is one arm was gone but his spirit did not. He became the first Indian to win two Paralympics gold medals.
