We hear and talk a lot about the Hindu-Muslim religion in India. But somehow, it never seems to be enough.

Recently, Bollywood’s filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan took to Instagram to share a beautiful picture of her three kids performing a puja at home. She celebrates festivals with equal faith and enthusiasm, be it Diwali, Janmashtami or Eid.  The photo showed her children — Diva, Anya and son Czar Kunder performing a puja, with their hands folded and eyes closed.

She captioned the pic as “Never underestimate the power of Prayer! Happy New Year♥️#puja#gratitude #godhearsandanswersprayers”.

The picture could not escape the eyes of a few religious fanatics who began criticising Farah for ‘neglecting’ her own religion & making her children worship Hindu Gods, despite being a Muslim.

In 2017, Farah Khan’s husband Shirish Kunder gave a befitting reply to a troll when asked about his children’s religion. The filmmaker’s response was lauded by one and all. He replied, “Depends on which festival is next. Last month, they were Christians”. It went viral on Twitter with over 5 thousand likes and nearly 7 thousand retweets.

Farah has repeatedly faced criticism by a section of people on social media over her religion. For the unversed, Farah, a Muslim, married Shirish Kunder outside her religion in 2004. The couple often gets questioned about the religion of their children by some haters.
In a country like India where people from different religions live in harmony and celebrate each other’s festival with pomp and enthusiasm, what religion does a certain individual follow should not be an issue, to begin with?
