Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi but she is facing a big problem. The Maharashtra Karni Sena has created a ruckus. Karni Sena is protesting against the release of the film. Karni Sena members have raised issues with Rani of Jhansi having an affair with a British officer and they have also objected to a scene where the Queen will be dancing. They have said that they cannot distort the facts or else they would burn the theatres.
When asked by film journalist Rohit Khilnani about her reaction to these threats by the Karni Sena, actor Kangana Ranaut responded with this: “Four historians have certified #Manikarnika, we have got censor certificate as well, #KarniSena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. If they don’t stop then they should know I am also a Rajput and I will destroy each one of them,”.

According to ANI, the Maharashtra wing of Karni Sena wrote a letter to the makers of Manikarnika in which they allegedly said that if the “image of Rani Laxmi Bai is maligned in the film or if she is shown to be the lover of some Britisher then the makers will face consequences.”
The period drama is based on the life and struggles of Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi and her war against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
Apart from Kangana Ranaut and Ankita Lokhande, the film also stars Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Demzongpa and Jisshu Sengupta in pivotal roles. Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is jointly directed by Krish and Kangana, who also produces the film. Manikarnika also stars Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta.
No doubt, Kagnana is taking a much needed tough stand against the Sena by not falling for their threats as Bollywood usually does around the time of a film’s release.

The Karni Sena also opposed the release of “Padmaavat,” starring Deepika Padukone as Queen Padmini, last year. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was attacked, sets of the film were vandalised and a bounty was even placed on Deepika’s head after she defended the film.
