Mulk, the Pink actress will be seen playing the role of a defence lawyer.
Mulk is based on one of the most controversial topics not just in India, but the world; Islamophobia.
An issue as sensitive and controversial as this, a lot of people were wary about the way it would be received by the audience. However, in order to get the point of view of Muslims who are ostracized as a whole due to Islamic terrorist activities, the Naam Shabana actress wanted to work in a film that would resonate in the minds of the audience in general.
She said, “It is very disturbing to see how one religion specifically, always seems to be targeted. Especially because of acts being performed by cowards who belong to the religion. I am so hurt and angry and disturbed by it all. The most key people who work with me, for me to help my career and streamline it all, from my manager, my driver, my PR are all Muslims and it is frustrating to see the perception surrounding them. One cannot turn a blind eye to these things. So working for Anubhav Sir’s film was a way to vent my anger and get a chance to talk about it.”

The plot of the film will revolve around the story of a joint family in a small town in India who are fighting to reclaim their honour after being dragged into a controversy. The story seems to be exciting but there are more interesting parts.
The story is actually based on a real-life instance where a father refused to accept the dead body of his son, who was allegedly a terrorist.
Earlier this month, Rishi Kapoor shared his first look from the upcoming movie and everybody was surprised to see his new avatar. The veteran actor looked quite intriguing with a serious look on his face. With a full grown beard, he had short hair as he looked at someone with anger.
After experimenting with a commercial film like Judwaa 2, Taapsee Pannu has taken up a challenging role in this film. Taapsee’s character in Mulk will be helping a joint family reclaim their honour. She will be seen in a lawyer’s role to solve the mystery behind a death. Rishi Kapoor will be playing Taapsee’s father-in-law in the film while Neena Gupta will be her mother-in-law.
