Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra on Monday(21 May) visited Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar as a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights. Highlighting the plight of Rohingya refugee kids, the 35-year-old actor posted photographs from her visit on social media.
She shared it on Twitter, in her post Priyanka wrote, “I’m in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh today for a field visit with UNICEF, to one of the largest refugee camps in the world. In the second half of 2017, the world saw horrific images of ethnic cleansing from the Rakhine State of Myanmar(Burma). This violence drove nearly 700,000 Rohingya across the border into Bangladesh – 60% are children!”

Priyanka Chopra faced the ire of trolls for visiting Rohingya camps on social media. Instead of appreciating the actor for her humanitarian act, trolls decided to target her. The troll army has targeted her for announcing on Twitter that she was at a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar.
Trolls claimed that it was just some publicity stunt by Priyanka, who visited the Rohingya camps for photo-ops. Many Indians, some of them settled abroad, showered abuses.
Many questioned her why she hadn’t visited camps set up for Kashmiri Pandits and called her anti-national.

Remember you doesn’t represent 1.2 billion people sentiments. If you have no sympathy for indians then give your land and money to rohingyas and settle in Bangladesh permanently. From now onwards no more your movies for me and my family. Shame shame not expected from you.

Chopra is UNICEF goodwill ambassador
Some trolls asked her to get involved in such charitable events only in India instead of going to neighbouring nations. But do they know that she is an international artist associated with UNICEF, which works across nations?
As a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, Priyanka’s itinerary in all probability gets decided by the UN program. Had UNICEF asked Priyanka to visit Kashmiri Pandit camps or Hindu refugee camps in Pakistan, it is unlikely that the Bollywood star would have refused.
