When Telugu actress Sri Reddy decided to open up about her experience with the casting couch and sexual expoloitation in Tollywood, little did she know that it would be the beginning of a change in the way her film industry treats women.
Telugu actress Sri Reddy waged a war against casting couch and exploitation of actresses in the Telugu film industry. Reddy openly talked about casting couch on April 7 in front of the media and became topless which lead to her arrest for creating nuisance in public space. She accused the producers and directors of the Telugu film industry of exploitation. Reddy also revealed that female actors face sexual exploitation by some of the big names in the Telugu film industry.
Sri Reddy has disclosed evidence by sharing photographs and Whatsapp conversations with a few top personalities of Tollywood, including Abhiram Daggubati, the son of producer Suresh Babu, and brother of Bahubali actor Rana Daggubati, Viva Harsha, Kona Venkat, Koratala Siva, Sree Ram Chandra and others.

Recently, Sri Reddy organised a press meet in which Telugu actress Sandhya Naidu, spoke about the humiliation and exploitation she faced in this film industry. The actress said, “Most of the characters I get are that of a mother or an aunty. They call me ‘amma’ at the shooting spot in the morning and ask me to come and sleep with them at night. One of them asked me what I was wearing and if it is transparent.”

Apart from Sandhya, artist Sunitha Reddy also said, “We have to change clothes outdoors and relieve ourselves outdoors. While the managers ask us to use the caravans of the stars, we are not allowed and are treated like worms. They used crude language and ask us not to lurk around.”
