Coming to this year, so far 2018 has been quite a mixed bag for Bollywood in terms of films and also for music. A lot of good films released this year, some of them being Mukkabaaz, PadMan, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid, Hichki, October, 3 Storeys, Sanju, however there have been some films that just left us confused as to what was the purpose of making the film.
So, we have seen many horrible films in 2018, but as the year comes to an end, it is time for you, our readers, to make your choice of the worst of the worst.
Here is a list of films that simply failed to impress us even one bit. Here are the ones we are talking about. Vote below to make your selection.
Whether it was Pehla Nazar in Race or Lat Lag Gayee in Race 2, Race franchise has always been synonymous to chart-topping music. However with below average music and lyrics that sound like it was penned by nursery kids, Race 3 happens to be the worst music album of the year so far. ‘Selfish’ is going to haunt us forever and don’t even get us started on ‘saath mai hain, haath main hai, tattoo’. Like seriously, what were the makers even thinking?
In the days of yore, if not anything then Bhatt films for known for their hauntingly beautiful music, but sadly it seems like those days are really over. One of the most forgettable releases this year, 1921, to be honest, does not have unpleasant music but it is so horribly dated and monotonous that it is almost impossible to separate it from the music of other Bhatt camp films in the recent years. Just like their stories and genre, Bhatt movies have also stuck a particular type of music that is totally failing to entertain us anymore.
Nanu Ki Jaanu
It is probably the worst torture that Bollywood has inflicted upon us so far. But even if we for a second forget that how terrible this film really was, we cannot forget the seriously bad music of the film. From insipid, dated to bizarre, the film’s music is all that and more. No, even ‘Tere Thumke Pe Sapna Chaudhry’ won’t convince us into calling the music of this film even slightly bearable.
Thugs of Hindostan
Everything that could possibly go wrong with a film went wrong with Thugs of Hindostan, a monstrosity of a movie that defies any logic or explanation for its existence.
YRF bankrolled this ambitious pirate drama that was powered by top stars Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif.
It’d have been commendable if the amount of investment the makers made in every character’s eye make-up was instead channeled towards the writer’s room so they could come up with something, like, you know a plausible plot.
Generic action sequences, out-of-place humour, unimpressive performances, Thugs was so poorly directed, after a point, it felt like a parody of itself. Between Tashan, Dhoom 3 and Thugs, Vijay Krishna Acharya now has the rare distinction of directing some of the worst Hindi films of the 21st century, his latest film so awful two actors from the cast actually apologised for it.
Hate Story 4
The fourth instalment of Hate Story franchise starred Urvashi Rautela in lead, and to be honest, the second part of franchise was quite good. However, this time around the twists and turns seemed to be forced, the performance by the entire cast was horrible from the word go, and the dialogues were as tacky as they get. Since not much was expected from the film, it finds the 5th spot in this list. Unlike the previous 3 instalments, sex didn’t sell this time as the Box-Office outcome also was not promising.
