To help out our hair, it’s common to go to the salon and spend hundreds of dollars on a routine that probably will not work and most likely uses chemicals and dyes that can actually be harmful.
All-natural and organic homemade hair masks nourish the scalp and hair roots. Making a homemade hair mask is not only very cheap but also very easy—all you need are a few simple kitchen ingredients.
Here are five nourishing hair masks made from basic kitchen ingredients that you can try out for beautiful hair!
1. Avocado & Olive Oil
We all know how quickly an avocado can go from ripe and ready to really wrong. No need to throw out a perfectly good (or bad) avocado – use it for your hair! This nutrient-packed fruit is loaded with vitamin E and other antioxidants to help revive your hair. Mash in a bowl and mix in two teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil (to help with dry scalp). Apply to wet or dry hair, cover with a shower cap, and leave on for 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water, for shiny, silky hair.
2. Honey & banana
Honey is rich in antioxidants and is ideal for moisturizing your hair, while banana can help strengthen it with its fiber, proteins and vitamins. Mix these two ingredients together in a blender until smooth before applying it to your hair to prevent chunks that may be hard to wash out.
3. Softening Milk Hair Mask
Milk is an excellent rinse for your hair if you want soft and manageable locks. This mask is made of milk, along with egg and coconut oil to leave your hair so smooth and shiny and of course, soft. You heat your hair when this mask is on to open up the follicles so that the mask can penetrate deep into your roots. This is a wonderful mask to follow up after a deep clean that strips all of those harsh chemicals out of your hair. Also Read: Make Your Own Reetha (Soap Nut) Shampoo & Hair Pack For Healthy Hair
4. DIY Deep Hair Conditioner
Melt 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 1 tsp shea butter together in microwave or double broiler. Let mixture cool until almost solidified then add few drops of argan oil.
Whip together for 3-5 minutes. You’ll get a creamy texture that’s much easier to apply than melted oil
Comb through clean, dry hair and let sit for 30 minutes.
Rinse hair and shampoo as normal.
5. Itchy Scalp Hair Treatment
During the winter, dry scalp can become very itchy, which can be excruciating and embarrassing at the same time. A great treatment for this is a lemon juice and olive oil hair mask. This mask is so easy to make and will instantly stop that itching. You just mix the lemon juice and
olive oil with a bit of water, apply to hair and leave it on for about 20 minutes, then shampoo as usual and you will instantly notice a better feeling scalp.
