Body odor, particularly underarm odor, can be annoying, embarrassing and even offensive to those around you. Although deodorants, body spray help to a large extent and make you stink less throughout the day but using them is not a permanent solution. Witch hazel is a natural astringent, which means it contracts your skin’s tissues and reduces the production of sweat.
Fight back against armpit odor by dousing a cotton ball with witch hazel and rubbing it on your underarms after showering or bathing.
Take a few drops of iodine and apply it to both the underarms.
Scrub your underarms gently with a soft brush.
Leave the mixture on for about 3 minutes after scrubbing and then go ahead with your shower.
You must do this once daily.
Lemon juice is another highly acidic ingredient. It reduces the pH of your skin and makes it uninhabitable for bacteria.
Take half a lemon and rub it directly on your armpits. Repeat once daily until you notice an improvement in your armpit odor. If you have sensitive skin, mix the juice of half a lemon with half a cup of water to dilute it.
Be careful when applying strong acidic home remedies like lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and witch hazel, especially if you have sensitive skin. To avoid any burning or irritation, only apply to clean, dry skin. Never use them right after shaving or if you have any nicks or broken skin.
Tea Tree oil
Add two drops of tea tree oil to two tablespoons of water.
Using a cotton pad, apply this mixture to both your underarms.
You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil to a bottle of water and use it as a spray.
Do this daily at least one time!
Take a little aloe vera gel on your fingers and apply it directly to your underarms.
Leave it on overnight and wash it off the next morning.
You can also drink about one-fourth cup of aloe vera juice daily.
You should do this once daily.
Other Tips- Trim or Shave Your Pits
Underarm hair traps moisture and creates the perfect environment for bacteria to breed. Shave or trim your pits frequently to keep the stink under control.
Change your diet
Sometimes, fatty foods, oils, or strong-smelling foods such as garlic, curry, and onions, can seep through your pores and cause body odor (always see a doctor or dietician before making drastic dietary changes).
When to see a doctor
If you’ve used multiple kinds of deodorants or antiperspirants and nothing helps to reduce your underarm odor, talk with your doctor. They can rule out underlying medical conditions and recommend stronger treatments.
