He is known as the messenger of gods and first journalist of planet earth. But what made him curse Lord Vishnu. Why Lord Vishnu had to lose his love Lakshmi? Here is the story.
When Narada Fell in Love With Goddess Lakshmi
There is a story that once Narada Muni was proud of himself that he had become free from marriage desire. Lord Vishnu built a Maya city to dissolve Narada’s pride.
In this city, Goddess Lakshmi was born in the form of princess. Seeing them, the desire for marriage in the mind of Narada Muni prevailed. He reached Lord Vishnu asking to make him handsome like Hari avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu gave made him Hari as per his wish.
But Lord Vishnu Made His Face Like A Monkey, Can You Guess Why?
Lord Vishnu made the mouth of Narada ji like a monkey, so that Goddess Lakshmi could not get fascinated by him. On the day of Swayamvar, Narada dressed in a royal avatar participated in the ceremony. He was thinking that he was the most handsome. But when princess saw his face, she busted out laughing and gave the garland to Lord Vishnu. This didn’t go well with Narada. When Narada was returning from he saw his face in a pond on the way. Narad was surprised to see his face because his face looked like a monkey. He came to know that Lord Vishnu had deceived him. He was looking like a monkey, unfortunately, Narada was unaware of the fact that Lord Vishnu’s another name ‘Hari’ also meant a monkey.
Lost in his anger, Narada cursed Lord Vishnu & said only monkeys will help him
Narada was very angry and asked Vishnu the reason behind his act. He said, “I asked you to make me the most handsome prince but instead you turned me into a monkey. I have lost the love of my life.” narada cursed Vishnu that he would also lose his beloved and will experience the pain of separation. And only monkeys would help you to get your love back.” To which Vishnu smiled and accepted the curse. He said he will take birth as a human being and Goddess Lakshmi will be his wife and they both would endure separation.
This curse became true in Vishnu’s incarnation as Lord Rama.
