On Tuesday morning, a four storey building collapsed in Ghatkoper, easter suburb of Mumbai in which eight people are feared to be dead and more than 30 were trapped in the rubble. The incident took place around 10:45 am.
The entire four storey building with the ground floor was collapsed, trapping 30-40 people under the building. The building also had a nursing home which was under renovation, so there were not many patients. The brigade and recue officials arrived arrived at spot to help dozens of people to rescue. The ruble was shifted with help of JCB excavator. The recued people were taken to nearby Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.
The building collpased was located in Damodar park area of Ghatkopar. The incident to the officials was reported at 10:43 am, soon fire brigade jawans with senior officers and BMC officials reached the spot instantly.
