On 16th June, India implemented rules for revision of prices on daily basis in a shift from its earlier practice of changing the prices on fortnightly basis. This is in extension of the pilot project which the oil companies had earlier implemented in 5 cities.
This step has put India at par with countries like USA and Australia where the prices are revised on daily basis and will bring transparency in the system and this step will be in customer’s interest.
Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas (Independent Charge), tweeted, “Proud to share that India is the first country to switch to dynamic fuel pricing on such a large scale at one go.”
