Congress party came down hard on Election Commission and said that Uttar Pradesh chief minister “insults” the Indian Army and the poll body writes a “love letter” to him. The opposition party further attacked EC communication to NITI Aayog vice chairman Rajiv Kumar, saying he criticised the party’s proposed minimum income scheme NYAY and the poll body told him “don’t do it in future”.
“Has the MCC now become ‘Modi Code of Conduct’. Adityanath insults the Indian Army — EC writes a love letter to him,” Congress’ chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted.
“NITI Aayog vice chairman criticises the NYAY scheme — EC says ‘don’t do it in future’,” he said.
Why is the EC shying away from showing the mirror of truth to those in power, Surjewala asked.
क्या MCC अब बन गया है –
‘Modi Code of Conduct’
आदित्यनाथ भारतीय सेना का अपमान करते है – EC उन्हें ‘प्रेम पत्र’ लिखता है।
नीति आयोग VC न्याय योजना को कोसते हैं – EC कहता है ‘आगे से मत करें’।

The UP CM, in his reply submitted to the Commission Friday, had defended his remark made at a rally in Ghaziabad on March 31 saying that by “Modiji ki Sena” he meant the country’s army. He said he had done nothing wrong since the President, the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, acts on the advice of the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and, hence his remark was another way of saying the Indian Army.
Not satisfied with the remarks, the EC was learnt to have told him that be “more careful in his utterances in future”, sources had said.
The EC Friday also expressed “displeasure” over the NITI Aayog vice chairman’s remarks against the Congress’ proposed minimum income scheme ‘NYAY’ and said the comments violated the model code of conduct.
In a communication sent to Kumar, the EC asked him to be cautious in future while making statements.
Whipping up another controversy with his statement, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath in an attack had called the Muslim League, a ‘virus’ and fear-mongered over the Congress ally in Kerala, citing ‘partition’.
After tagging the Muslim League in Kerala as ‘virus’ the BJP leader further stated that the Congress has been ‘infected with this virus’ and that if they win, this virus will spread across the country.
Over which, the Muslim League had decided to knock the EC doors, and are scheduled to meet the election regulating body on Saturday. Read Here: Yogi Adityanath Uses Bad Word For Muslim League, Sparks Row
