Communal clashes broke out in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh over an unauthorised bike rally organised on Republic Day. A young boy named Chandan was shot dead in a communal violence that broke out following an altercation between two groups over shouting of slogans during Tiranga Yatra.
After the incident the market of rumors increased and false information was spread from streets to social media. There were several claims related to the incident. Internet service was banned in the district, which was restored on Tuesday (30 January).

Kasganj is a district in western UP which falls under Aligarh division. It is surrounded by Farurkabad in the east, Aligarh in the west, Etah district in north and Badaun in the south.
The district has 10 police stations and is over 200 km away from the national capital.

After this, another rumor was spread on social media that a Hindu had fired on Chandan Gupta.
Through the rumored social media, in the tense areas of Uttar Pradesh, Sunil Kumar Singh, described this as just a rumor and had said that the police has not reached any conclusion yet. After investigation it will become clear.
Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar’s Fake Post
In the name of Bollywood actor-director Farhan Akhtar, a controversial fake post became viral in the social media. Actually a user posted a screenshot which contains the photo of Farhan Akhtar and a statement is written.
The quote attributed to him says, “It was Jumma (Friday) on 26 January. Had Hindus not taken tiranga/Flag march through Muslim majority area of Kasganj and raised slogans like Vande Mataram, they couldn’t have been killed.”
Farhan Akhtar has demanded strict action against those who have done this. He also urged his fans and followers to be alert about what and what not to believe on social media.
Rumor of Rahul Upadhyay’s death
After hearing the news, Rahul Upadhyay himself came out and clarified that he is alive. Indeed, some mischievous elements had rumored the death of 24-year-old Rahul Upadhyay on social media, after which there were many phone calls to Rahul, who run a news outlet.
He told the media, “On Saturday I received a call and I was asked whether I am alive or my death. First of all, I was surprised and thought that it would be a joke, but later came many more calls & all asked this question, then I realized that something is wrong.
