A 31-year-old Hindu man was shot dead allegedly by two assailants in northwest Delhi’s Mahendra Park area on Monday,” the police was quoted as saying by PTI. The victim, Ankit, ran a tuition centre in northwest Delhi’s Mahendra Park where he was shot at around 8:30 am.
The incident occurred around 8:30 am at a tuition centre in northwest Delhi’s Mahendra Park, where victim Ankit used to teach. According to sources, the deceased and the Muslim woman wanted to get married. However, the student’s brother opposed their relationship as they belonged to different religions.
“The motive behind the killing is not clear yet. Ankit’s family has claimed that this might have happened due to a woman with whom he was in a relationship,” a senior police official was quoted as saying by PTI.
As per a report by The Indian Express, he was shot dead in front of his two students. The two students claimed that the woman’s brother opened fire at the deceased. Victim Ankit was allegedly threatened several times before he was murdered. The investigation is currently underway.
Eyewitnesses claimed they heard the sound of gunshots following which a PCR call was made. However, they said, police arrived 40 minutes later. Ankit’s body was taken to the local mortuary following which the body was handed over to the relatives for final rites. Ankit is survived by his father, elder brother and a sister. (Indian Express)
Family Accuses Alleged Girlfriend’s Brother
According to the victim’s family members, Ankit was in a relationship with a girl he had met in 2005 and was keen on marrying her. However, the girl’s brother did not approve of the relationship.
Ankit’s family approved of his relationship with his alleged girlfriend and knew that they had been seeing each other since 2007.
The family members added that the girl visited Ankit’s house regularly and would often join them on family outings.
However, it all stopped last year as the girl’s brother didn’t approve of the relationship (The Quint)

However, this incident reminds of Ankit Saxena, who was murdered by the family members of the girl that took in Delhi during wee hours in earlier February this year.
A 23-year-old Ankit Saxena was a young photographer and youtube by profession. He was stabbed to death by family members of his girlfriend, who was against their relationship. Saxena was in a relationship with a 20-year-old Muslim woman.
On the complaint of Saxena’s family, Delhi police had arrested woman’s father Akbar Ali, mother Shahnaaz, a juvenile younger brother and uncle Mohd. Salim.
