Twitterati in Kerala used hilarious hashtags to make fun of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kollam to inaugurate a 13-km bypass.
The criticism gave rise to hashtags like #PavanayiModiAyi and #OduModiKandamVazhi. #PavanayiModiAyi refers to a Mohanlal-starrer in which a gangster, Pavanayi, was hired to kill the main protagonist but was killed instead.
#OduModiKandamVazhi is inspired by a phrase colloquially used to ask someone to “get lost”.
Most people who were using these hashtags were of the opinion that the 13-km road is not a big enough project for the prime minister to inaugurate.
A twitter user named Khushboo Singh tweeted, “What should we call Modi for coming to inaugurate a Bypass in Kerala??

My respect for Smriti Irani suddenly goes up. At least she got a CT Scan machine to inaugurate. Look at Modi, travelling 3500 kms all the way to Kollam, to open a 2-line, 13km bypass! #PavanayiModiAyi

Here is the fact Modi actually ran out of things to inaugurate in Kerala that now he has to choose a freaking 13 KM long bypass road in Kollam so that he gets a chance to address the crowd and boast about devlpmt. Fact is the bypass is already open for public #OduModiKandamVazhi pic.twitter.com/ZMdUjbwUan

Dedicating the bypass to the nation, PM Modi said only 56 per cent of the rural habitat was connected with roads in the country when he came to power in 2014.
“On the banks of the Ashtamudi lake, I sense the recovery from the (August, 2018) floods. But we will have to fight harder. I congratulate you all on the completion of the bypass,” he said.
“In our country, we often see many infrastructure projects getting stalled after inauguration. A huge amount of public money goes to waste,” the prime minister said, adding that he evaluated the development projects and engaged in meetings with all departmental secretaries and state chief secretaries.
“Some projects get delayed for more than 20-30 years. It is a crime towards the common people,” he said. Also Read: PM Modi Biopic: Twitter Attacks Vivek With Hilarious Memes & Jokes
