Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda got emotional and shed tears in front of people during his first campaign for Lok Sabha elections 2019. Prajwal Revanna also sobbed, after seeing his grandfather cry. The public display of emotion, was slammed as the “first drama” for the Lok Sabha polls.
HD Deve Gowda on Wednesday launched the poll campaign of Prajwal Revanna, amid allegations that he was practising dynasty politics.
Prajwal, son of Gowda’s elder son and PWD Minister HD Revanna, is Congress-JDS coalition’s candidate from Hassan. Seeing Mr Gowda wiping tears and speaking in a heavy voice, JD(S) supporters gathered at the event requested him to calm down. The event also witnessed both Prajwal and his father HD Revanna too getting emotional.
“…so many allegations, from morning in the media (they talk about) Devegowda, Revanna, Kumaraswamy and their sons,” HD Deve Gowda said as he wiped tears from his face.

Talking to the media later, he reacted to a social media campaign titled “Go back Nikhil”, launched to oppose his grandson’s candidature in Mandya.
“It was the decision of JD(S) leaders to field Nikil from Mandya. I had not announced. I’m deeply pained, they are saying Nikhil Go Back…” he was quoted by news agency PTI.
“…I will go to Mandya… let them shout go back…for whom I fought in last 60 years, I will place everything before the people of Mandya,” he added.
Opposition has alleged that JDS workers were ignored for party tickets for Lok Sabha election to make way for HD Deve Gowda’s family.
The BJP, meanwhile, slammed HD Deve Gowda and his family, saying they were master in the “Art of Crying”.
If “CRYING” was an art Sri. @H_D_Devegowda & his family would hold the record for mastering the “Art Of Crying” to constantly fool people for decades.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy is also prone to sentimental outbursts over coalition troubles.
“Emotions are my weakness. It is in my blood. It is very difficult to control,” Mr Kumaraswamy had said last month.
With tears trickling down his cheeks, Mr Kumaraswamy had said in July last year that he was not happy being the chief minister and “I have swallowed poison like Lord Vishakantha (Shiva).”
