A man’s arms were chopped off after being tied to a tree by a family of five at Pipalwali village in Sultanpur police station area of Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. The victim had allegedly entered the territory of the accused in search of his cow that went missing since Friday evening.
Identified as Prem Narayan Sahu, the 35-year-old had entered the residential premises of Sattu Yadav, in order to inquire about his missing cow. An altercation was followed and the two started hurling abuses at each other. Yadav’s family, instead of pacifying the fight, also ganged up against Sahu and tied him to a tree, only to sever his arms by the means of a sword.
They allegedly also beat him black and blue before chopping off his arms as many other villagers kept mum and just merely stood as spectators to watch the crime being committed.
The police were informed by an anonymous villager who witnessed the incident and decided to something. A police officer told TOI that Sahu was tied up the way Gabbar Singh had tied Thakur in the movie Sholay and that there was a lot of blood spattered at the spot by the time they reached.
They further added that he was rushed to a local hospital from where he was referred to a Bhopal hospital for treatment and was in a critical condition. Police said that no one came to his rescue even though Sahu was screaming for help. He was later taken to a hospital. Police took the severed arm to the hospital.
The police arrested Sattu Yadav and Rajpal Yadav on Sunday while the others identified as Rahul, Ramu and Shakul Bai have been charged for attempting to murder, as per Sahu’s recorded statement.
