Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday addressed the Jan Akanksha Rally in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, as Congress kicked off its poll campaign in Bihar for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Launching a blistering attack against the BJP government, Gandhi slammed PM Modi over several issues, including the Rafale deal and the NDA’s cash transfer scheme for farmers. The Congress President reiterated the party’s poll promise to waive off farmer loans in the country and provide minimum income guarantee for all.

Gandhi also claimed that the alliance of the Opposition parties will form the next government at the Centre and in Bihar after the Lok Sabha elections. Incidentally, it was the first public meeting that has been organised by the Congress party at Gandhi Maidan in nearly 30 years. Invitations for the party rally had been sent to alliance partners such as RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi, said AICC in-charge of Bihar, Shaktisinh Gohil.
BJP said they took historic steps for farmers in the recent budget. Giving ₹17/day to a farmer is historic for them. What about Anil Ambani who was given ₹30,000Cr, Mehul Choksi- ₹35,000Cr, Nirav Modi- ₹30,000Cr?: Congress President @RahulGandhi #JanAkankshaRally pic.twitter.com/KSigbdMLyh

It needs to be seen whether Mr Kushwaha, who is recovering following clash with the police at the Patna Medical College and Hospital, will be able to make it to the programme or not. There is, however, no word about participation of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Though Mr Manjhi has confirmed his presence at the event
