Motive not found yet
The actual reason is still being determined, Hapur Superintendent of Police Sankalp said there were rumours that the fight was over alleged cow slaughter but investigations showed they were not correct.
When news of the attack spread, tensions between the communities escalated, and senior police officers were deployed to the area to prevent clashes.
The district police has registered a case against two dozen people, News18 reported. The Hapur superintendent of police, Sankalp Sharma, rejected the claim that rumours of cow slaughter had led to the incident. They claimed that the attack took place because of an accident caused by road rage. “The victim’s family has given us a written complaint, saying that the beating and the fight was triggered after a motorbike hit some people,” he was quoted as saying by The Hindu. “This has nothing to do with cow slaughter rumours. The police is investigating the matter, and we will take strict action against the culprits.
State police have drawn flak after the picture showing the three men in khaki in the same frame as the victim went viral.
The policemen — identified as inspector Ashwini Kumar and constables Kanhaiya Lal and Ashok Kumar — have been transferred to police lines and an inquiry has been ordered, said U.P. police spokesperson Rahul Srivastava.

The State police also issued an apology through the DGP headquarters. The police, however, clarified that the victim was dragged on the ground “because of the non-availability of an ambulance at that moment” and that the victim was later rushed to a hospital in an emergency van.
“This picture seems to have been taken when the police had reached the spot to shift the injured to a police vehicle. Admittedly, the police should have been more sensitive in their conduct,” U.P. police said in the statement.
Incidentally, the village is barely 10 kms away from the Bisada village in Dadri where 55-year-old Mohammad Ikhlaq was lynched by a mob in 2015 on allegations of eating and keeping beef (cow meat) in his home.
We at Awaaz Nation condemn such acts and demand strict action against accused!
