Calling the BJP as ‘kale angrez’ Punjab Minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu urged people in Indore to vote the party out of power and save the country.

Pitching for the Congress Sidhu said it was the party of Maulana Azad and Mahatma Gandhi that fought for India’s independence and got it free from the clutches of the British rule.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) issued a fresh notice to Sidhu for his “objectionable comments” against PM Narendra Modi saying it violated the Model Code of Conduct. Sidhu has 24 hours to respond to the EC’s notice.

Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh the Congress leader had accused the PM of “benefitting businessman Anil Ambani and making money in the Rafale jet deal” and “doing politics on the corpses of martyrs”. He also called Modi as the “biggest traitor” of the country.

Sidhu was found guilty of violating MCC recently

In last Month (April), the EC had barred Sidhu from campaigning for 72 hours after it found him guilty of violating the MCC for his allegedly communal remarks. The Congress leader is the star campaigner for the party and recently a woman was detained for allegedly attempting to throw her footwear at him during a public meeting because he spoke against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The cricketer-turned-politician has been attacking Narendra Modi-led BJP government on various issues. Earlier, he claimed that schemes launched by the Centre were nothing but “failed policies” that failed to attract success.

Recently, he claimed that schemes launched by the Centre were nothing but “failed policies” that failed to attract success. He also targeted PM Modi’s flagship ‘Namami Gange Programme’ and referring to the Supreme Court’s observation, he pointed out that the central government had been cleaning the river Ganga at a very slow pace and that the scheme had received only Rs 6,000 crore of the planned Rs 20,000 crore so far.

“It was the Supreme court’s observation that the rate at which the government is cleaning the Ganga it would take 200 years to make Ganga clean again,” IANS quoted Sidhu as saying.
