Then serving in Chhattisgarh, on 12th July 2009 Vinod Kumar Chaubey led a head-on attack on the Naxals after they had murdered two police officers from Chaubey’s team. While his team was being brutally ambushed with bullets and grenades, Chaubey sprang towards the Naxalites in the trenches 10 meters away and fired, successfully pushing them back. Sadly though, he ultimately succumbed to death. In the ordeal, Chaubey not only saved more than a dozen of his men but also a bus full of civilians who were stranded in the middle of the bloodshed.

Babu was a part of the elite Greyhounds special operations group of the Andhra Pradesh Police. Despite being really low on ammunition, a severely injured Babu saved the lives of 4 commandos and killed 9 Maoists. He is still the only police officer from Andhra Pradesh to receive the Ashok Chakra.

If there’s a real life ‘dabangg’ police officer with guts and fearlessness, it has to be Lande. IPS Lande single-handedly curbed the crime rate in Patna during his time there as an SP. He came to limelight by dealing with crooks like they should be dealt with and was particularly a hit amongst the women in the state for his brother like stature. Sadly though, he was soon transferred, thanks to corrupt politicians and his fearless dealings with crime.
