Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar said mob violence would automatically stop if people denounce eating beef. He was addressing a press meet in a Ranchi hotel after the inauguration of the office of the Jharkhand unit of Hindu Jagran Manch in the state capital. The RSS leader responded to the recent incident of mob lynching at Alwar. . He also emphasised on the role of ‘sanskar’ (values) for dealing with such problems. “Mob lynching can’t be welcomed…if the practice of eating cow meat is stopped, many such crimes of the ‘Satan’ could be stopped,” he said.
This shocking comment by Kumar came days after a man was lynched on suspicion of cow smuggling in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. While talking to media on Monday, the RRS leader who is an executive committee member of the RSS, said not a single religion in the world approves killing of cows. Kumar reiterated that the government must act on such crimes and there must be a law for such issues.
“Kisi bhi mob ki hinsa, wo aapke ghar ki, mohalle ki, jaati ki, party ki ho, wo kabhi bhi ahinandaniya nahin ho sakti. Parantu, duniya ke jitne bhidharm hain, unke kisi ek dharam sthal par bata do ki gaye ka vadh hotahai.
English- (Violence by mob, whether that be your own home, neighbourhood, party, is not praiseworthy. But, tell me one religion which permits the killing of cows),” said Kumar, an executive committee member of the RSS.
“Isha dharti par gaushala mein aaye, isliye waha mother cow bolte hain. Mecca Madina mein gaye ka vadh apradh maante hain. Kya hum sankalp nahi kar sakte ki dhara ko,manavta ko is paap se muqt karaein. Agar muqt ho jaayegi to aapki samasya (mob lynching) ka hal ho jaayega.
English- (It is called ‘mother cow’ in Christianity because Jesus was born in a cowshed. It is a sin to kill cows is banned in Mecca-Madina. Can’t we commit that we will free the world and humanity from this sin? If it is free, then the problem (mob lynching) will be solved),” he added.
The comment created controversy like a fire and here are reactions of twitterati!
Maximum beef eaten in Goa, North East, Kerala, Bengal, so maximum lynching should be happening there. https://t.co/LniUc6cNk4

RSS leader Indresh Kumar parrots the old pretext of lynching -beef eating, which includes dairying as well for him as many of the victims were cow milk traders. But stop justifying it in the name of Hinduism, don’t blur the distinction with Hindutva https://t.co/2nP46NKzcp

Muslims Should Stop Eating Beef, Says Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Chief
Speaking to ANI, Mr Rizvi said that even in Islam cow meat is considered ‘haram’ (forbidden). He pitched for strict action against culprits who kill cows.
“Muslims should stop eating beef. Killing of cows should stop. You cannot stop mob lynching, security cannot be deployed everywhere. So a law should be made awarding strict punishment to those killing cows,” Mr Rizvi said.
Backing the statement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar on cow killing, Mr Rizvi further said that someone with status of a mother should not be killed.
“I think Indresh Kumar’s statement has a point. Religious sentiments should not be hurt.”
