Sacred Games,  the first Indian original web series produced by Netflix has landed in trouble as a Congress worker in Kolkata filed a police complaint against the global streaming service Netflix that has produced Sacred Games, and actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, among others, for allegedly using an ‘objectionable word’ to describe late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Netflix series Sacred Games is based on author Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name. Season one of Sacred Games directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, consists of eight episodes. The series tells the story of Mumbai police officer Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan), who is investigating the suicide of Mumbai ganglord Ganesh Gaitonde (Siddiqui). Radhika Apte plays a Research and Analysis Wing agent.

The debut season has hit out at the Congress with episodes on Emergency imposed by the Indira Gandhi government, and Bofors scandal and Shah Bano cases under Rajiv Gandhi government.

Rajeev Kumar Sinha filed a complaint at the Girish Park police station in north Kolkata on Tuesday morning and said “We are deeply hurt and we want stern action to be taken against the offenders,”

The complaint letter says that the word fattu was translated as pussy in the subtitles, which is derogatory to the former prime minister.

Sinha wrote in his complaint that Siddiqui is heard referring to Gandhi with an abusive word in the web series, and has misrepresented several facts from that period. “Besides this, the serial has crossed all limits of decency – taking the Indian film industry to a whole new low,” he added.

No doubt, this whole thing broke on the internet, and some people defended the popular series, and some went totally political on this. There is also a third side the ones who are mocking the whole thing. Have a look..
