Shatrughan Sinha, who recently left the BJP and joined the Congress, has landed himself in controversy after he called Jinnah a part of the Congress family.
Shatrughan Sinha on Friday lauded Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru.
Addressing a rally he said: “This is a Congress family, it is a family of all from Mahatma Gandhi to Vallabhbhai Patel to Muhammad Ali Jinnah to Nehru to Late Indira Gandhi to Rajiv Gandhi to Rahul Gandhi to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It is a party, they have played a significant role in the development of the country, in advancing the country, in country’s freedom, and therefore I joined this party, and once I am here, I will not go back.”
Further, he quoted a Hindi Shayari to defend his reason for leaving the BJP:“Kuch toh majburiyan rahi hongi, yuhi koi bewafa nahi hota” (There must have been some obstruction, nobody betrays without a reason)
Sinha was in Madhya Pradesh to campaign for Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath, who is contesting from the Chhindwara Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency against BJP’s Nathan Shah.
Both Kamal Nath and his son were present at the event.
“Aur ek baar jab aa gaya hu pehli aur shayad aakhri baar Congressparty me, to kabhi ab mudkar jane ke liye nahi aya hu (Now that I have joined the Congress party for the first and the last time, now I won’t leave it),” he added.
At the same rally, Sinha also said the people of the country were curious about Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) while expressing hope that the scheme will be implemented if his party is voted to power in the ongoing general elections.
“The Congress government has waived the loan of farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. People are curious about NYAYscheme now,” he said.
Sinha, who left the BJP being denied a ticket contest the Lok Sabhaelection from Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar, said, “It is fine when they (BJP) do something. If our leaders come up with some ideas, they are not able to digest these.”
The Patna Sahib MP also took a dig at Narendra Modi
Sinha dubbed Modi’s interview with actor Akshay Kumar as one conducted after “rehearsals” and with the help of “scriptwriters”. He further took indirect jibe at Modi saying, “A party is bigger than a person, country is bigger than party and nothing is bigger than a nation”. He further slammed Modi government for GST and demonetisation
He attacked the Prime Minister in a series of tweet, Shatrughan commented on the massive crowd at Prime Minister Modi’s Varanasi roadshow, calling it a display of ‘dhanshakti’ (money-power) and thereby casting aspersions on the people’s reasons for being there:
Mr.Kamal Nath was also present there, Here’s the M.P CM’s reaction
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has abstained from drawing himself into any controversy following Shatrughan Sinha’s remark regarding how among all other freedom fighters, the Congress party also belongs to Jinnah, despite being present at the rally where the statement was made.
Shatrughan Sinha was addressing a poll rally at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, where he was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath. Despite sharing the same stage, Kamal Nath denied hearing the ‘Congress belongs to Muhammad Ali Jinnah remark.
He said in Hindi: “I have not heard any such comment. if you are saying he must have said but I have not heard it. I must be talking to other people at that time.”(Maine suna nahi agar unhone kaha hoga to mai kisi aur se bat kar raha hounga)
