BJP has accused Congress leader Belur Gopalakrishna of trying to instigate people to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a video, the leader is seen making such incendiary remarks in a Congress-related event a month ago.
The Congress leader has said, “These days people are talking about Nathuram Godse, who killed Gandhiji. Those people should not exist in this society, if they are trying kill the democratic setup. If they have the guts, let them kill PM Modi.”

These provocative reactions came in the wake of a lady Pooja Pandey, secretary of Hindu Mahasabha holding a gun to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. The leader challenges the ilk of Pooja Pandey to press the trigger against Narendra Modi.
BJP shares video, demands action
Posting the video on Twitter, Karnataka BJP asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to take action against the Congress leader for “openly” calling for “assassination of democratically elected PM”. The BJP further said if Rahul Gandhi fails to take appropriate action, it would mean that the Congress president was endorsing his partyman Gopalakrishna’s “kill Modi” agenda.
“Well Rahul Gandhi we remember you saying you don’t endorse hate politics but now that your own party leader has openly called for assassination of democratically elected PM of this Nation would you act on him? If you don’t act it clearly means you endorse his words,” Karnataka BJP tweeted.

This threat by the Congress party has come eight months after the Pune Police accessed a letter suggesting a plan to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi in “another Rajiv Gandhi type incident” by “targeting his roadshows”. The letter was allegedly found from human rights activist Rona Jacob’s laptop during Police investigation in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case.
On Tuesday, many social media users reported that BJP’s website was hacked, and shared screenshots of an unflattering meme featuring PM Modi.
A caption above the meme said, in abusive language: “Brothers and sisters, I’ve fooled all of you. Brothers and sisters, we’ve fooled all of you. More to come! Many, many congratulations!”
The BJP website was down at the time when this story was last updated. “We’ll be back soon!Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. we’ll be back online shortly!,” a message at the BJP website read.
