A controversial clip has surfaced showing former Border Security Force (BSF) trooper Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose nomination was cancelled from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, saying that he could kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi if provided with Rs 50 crores.
On hearing about this viral video, BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao mentioned to the press, “He was drafted by the SP from Varanasi and his candidature has been nullified for various reasons. We can see on TV how he is telling a group of people that he is willing to hatch a plot to assassinate PM Modi for Rs 50 crore. Parties like Congress rallied behind such anti-social forces rather than the government is a matter of concern. The fact that he was sought to be drafted as a candidate by SP, it really stuns us. We condemn it; we expect all agencies to take note of this threat.”
For those unaware, Tej Bahadur Yadav is a suspended BSF constable, who shot into limelight in early 2017, for posting a video on social media about the lack of quality in the food served to BSF personnel.
The Video is Doctored?
Tej Bahadur admitted that he is the man in the video but claimed that the clip was doctored as he never spoke of any conspiracy to assassinate the Prime Minister. He said the video was shot by a Delhi Police constable in 2017 when he was staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi after his dismissal from the BSF.
To Quote Him- “I have seen that video. This video was shot in 2017 without my knowledge. I had spoken to that person on several issues related to soldiers. But I never spoke about any plot of assassination of Prime Minister. The video is doctored.”
He alleged that the constable shot the video after he denied his offer to get involved in financial irregularities through Fauzi Ekta Nyay Kalyan Manch — a trust he formed in 2017. Tej Bahadur said the constable has made 30 such doctored videos. “He approached me two weeks ago demanding Rs 50 lakh. He threatened to circulate the videos. I refused to give him money.”

Here are the excerpts of the shocking conversation Tej Bahadur Yadav can be seen as having with some friends, reportedly Delhi Police personnel:
Tej Bahadur Yadav: Give me money and I will kill Modi.
Friend: You are okay with killing Modi?
Tej Bahadur Yadav: Give me Rs 50 crores.
Friend: 50 crores? You won’t get that much money in India at least. Pakistan can give you Rs 50 crores.
Tej Bahadur Yadav: No, I won’t do such a thing. I am loyal to my country.
Friend: But Modi is the Prime Minister of India.
Tej Bahadur Yadav: No, I won’t be disloyal to my country. Money does not matter.
Friend: Why I asked you this question…is because you just said that you can kill Modi for Rs 50 crores.
Tej Bahadur Yadav: No, but not at the cost of my loyalty towards my country. Only if I am getting the money from an Indian.
On Monday, Yadav moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Election Commission’s decision to cancel his candidature from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency. In his plea, Yadav termed the decision of the poll panel discriminatory and unreasonable and said it should be set aside.
The authenticity of the video is yet to be verified and is currently under investigation.
