An event was organised to mark the 200th anniversary of the Bhima-Koregaon battle between British forces, including Mahar troops and the Peshwa army. Violence occurred after the death of an activist who got injured in clashes during the bicentenary celebrations of the Anglo-Maratha War of January 1, 1818.
Maharashtra Bandh created lot of trouble for Mumbaikaars
Maharashtra Bandh was called to protest the state government’s alleged failure to stop violence. On 2 January 2018, Dalit protesters took to the streets and blocked roads of Mumbai. The protesters targeted public transport vehicles, blocked roads and created panic.
The clashes then spilt into many parts of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of B R Ambedkar, has called off bandh today around 4.30 pm. Mumbaikaars suffered a lot due to the Maharashtra bandh.
Many people took to Twitter to show what is happening on the streets of the Maharashtra.

Opposition and other parties are politicizing the incident?
The Dalit protest has gained space in the political mainstream as Congress and other opposition parties disrupt Parliament over Bhima Koregaon violence. The government accused the party of politicisation of the issue.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge accused the RSS and Hindutva outfits for the recent violence against Dalits.
Check out some tweets made by various parties and people who instead of Such leaders, who instead of chasing the matter, are accusing the central government.
A tweet by Office of RG
A central pillar of the RSS/BJP’s fascist vision for India is that Dalits should remain at the bottom of Indian society. Una, Rohith Vemula and now Bhima-Koregaon are potent symbols of the resistance.

There is only one question that who’s responsible for the public suffering?
