Indian cricket all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup with an acute back injury which he suffered in the match against Pakistan. Deepak Chahar is set to be his replacement in the tournament.

Deepak Chahar’s father, Lokendra Singh Chahar, confirmed the same to Zee Hindi digital and expressed his joy on his son’s call-up in the squad of the Indian cricket team.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement on injury to India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the match played against Pakistan in the Asia Cup and stated that he is under the supervision of the medical team of the board. A statement issued by the BCCI stated, “Pandya is hurt in the lower part of the back and her condition is watching the medical team.” The statement said, “Pandya is capable of standing at this time and the medical team is watching her position.”

Deepak Chahar was inducted into Team India after injuries to Washington Sundar and Jaspreet Bumrah on India’s tour of England. Prior to the third T20 match against England, Team India captain Virat Kohli gave Chahar the cap of the Indian team. Deepak Chahar, who made his debut in international cricket, took a wicket of 43 runs in the match.

It is also worth mentioning that in recent times, promising budding fast bowlers have emerged in India. These young players have shown their calibre in international cricket after performing well in domestic cricket, Deepak Chahar is one among them. While playing against India A in England, Deepak has proven abilities. Earlier, in IPL 2018, Deepak Chahar received a lot of praise for his performance.

Deepak has achieved 115 wickets from 3.39 economy in 41 First Class matches. Whereas, In the 19 List A’s matches he scalped 34 wickets, registering an economy of 4.92. In addition, in 38 T20 matches, Deepak has taken 40 wickets registering an impressive economy of 7.51.
