The Indian Women are ready to take on New Zealand Women for the T20I series after sealing the ODI series 2-1. The Indian team completely outplayed the home side in the first two ODIs to clinch the series. However, the White Ferns bounced back in the third ODI to avoid a clean sweep. Both the teams will now focus on the T20I series that is set to begin from February 06, Wednesday.
Team India would be aiming to dominate the hosts in the opening T20I to keep them under the pump, just like they did in the ODI series. The home side will be looking to overcome their demons and perform well in the upcoming T20I series. New Zealand would be hoping to avenge one of the most significant defeats in their backyard.
Smriti Mandhana will be pivotal to Team India’s success in the upcoming series. She proved her mettle in the ODI series and was declared the ‘Player of the Series’ for her contribution. All eyes will be on Harmanpreet Kaur to see how she leads the side after the T20 World Cup mishap. The visitors would be hoping to end this historic tour on a high by beating the Kiwis in the T20 series as well.
Suzie Bates is ready for the challenge against the Indian side, heading into the upcoming match. The White Ferns fancy their chances in the T-20 format. The home side has released a 13-member squad to face the Blue Brigade in the opening T20I. Katie Gurrey and Rosemary Mair, the two uncapped players join the team along with Frances Mackay, who makes her return for the national side after 2014.
Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton will host the three T20Is on 6, 8 and 10 February respectively.
