IPL 2019:full schedule of Indian Premier League is here now

The full schedule of the league stage for the Indian Premier League season 12 has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday (March 19). The schedule has been evenly balanced with all eight teams playing seven home matches at their respective home venues and also in terms of afternoon matches, weekend matches and travel. However, the knockout fixtures are yet to be confirmed by BCCI.

The governing council was waiting for the dates of 2019 General Elections to be announced to chalk out the full schedule of this year’s IPL. Now that the Lok Sabha elections dates are out – which will be held in 7 phases from 11 April 2019 to 19 May 2019, IPL schedule has also been announced.

The schedule for the first 17 matches of the IPL was announced by the governing council. BCCI revealed that from 23rd March 2019 to 0th April 2019, 17 matches will be played. The first match of this year’s IPL will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. And the league stage will end with the match between three-time winners Mumbai Indians and two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 5.

All the 8 franchises will play their matches in their home stadiums during that two week period before the elections. All the teams are scheduled to play four matches during that period with RCB and Delhi Capitals (DC) playing five. While the other teams will play 2 home and 2 away matches, RCB will be playing 3 away matches and DC  will play 3 home matches.
