Here’s why This Former India Cricketer Thinks That 'Ravi Shastri should be removed as Indian head coach’! Do you agree with the reasons?

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has been in the eye of the storm since Virat Kohli-led India suffered a 1-4 drubbing at the hands of England in the recently-concluded five-match Test series.

From fans to former cricketers, everyone has been blaming Ravi Shastri for India’s dismal show in England.

Former Test cricketer Chetan Chauhan has become the latest former India cricketer to criticise head coach Ravi Shastri and even demanded his sacking before the Australia tour begins in November. Chauhan, who is Uttar Pradesh’s sports minister, held Shastri responsible for India’s 1-4 defeat to England in the Test series and said that he should stick to cricket commentary.

Here’s Why This Former India Cricketer Thinks That ‘Ravi Shastri should be removed as Indian head coach’!
Chetan Chauhan & Ravi Shastri

“Ravi Shastri should be removed as head coach before the Australia tour. Ravi Shastri is very good cricket commentator and he should be allowed to do so,” Says Chetan Chauhan, who is also Uttar Pradesh Sports Minister, while agreeing to demands raised by former cricketers for removal of Shastri as coach.

Chauhan was speaking to mediapersons in Dhanbad and said, “Team India should have performed better. Both the teams were evenly matched. But the Indian team failed to check tail enders of England.”

Chauhan, who is a former Test opener for India, was also among the ones criticising Shastri for calling Virat Kohli-led present Indian team as the ‘best travelling team in the world’.

“I do not agree. In 1980s, the Indian team was the best travelling team in the world,” he said.

Commenting on India’s chances in the ongoing Asia Cup cricket championship in Dubai, Chauhan said a better result is expected as the team is balanced with experienced and young players.

About Chetan Chauhan

Chauhan played 40 Test matches and scored 2,084 runs between 1969 and 1981.

He made his debut in 1969 against New Zealand in Mumbai and played his last Test against the same country in 1981 in Auckland. Besides, Chauhan also played seven One-Day Internationals.

Chauhan is the latest cricketer to demand Shastri’s ouster after former captain Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag.
