He was the king of Rajput Chauhan dynasty. He was born in 1168 at Ajmer and his father was Someshwar Chauhan, the king of Ajmer and mother was Karpuravalli. In his childhood, Prithviraj killed a tiger with his bare hands.

He defeated the king of Gujarat, Bhimdev only at an age of thirteen. His maternal grandfather Angam declared him the king of Delhi after seeing his bravery. His bravery is renowned still today.
Chauhan built a strong Rajput empire which included Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Love Story Of Prithviraj And Sanyukta (Sanjukta, Sanyogita)
Prithviraj and Sanyukta fell in love with each other but sanyukta’s father Jaichandra used to hate Chauhans. So, to teach them a lesson Jaichandra arranged a Swayamwara (a ceremony where a bride can choose her husband from the assembled princes).
On the day of the “Swayamvara”, Sanyukta ignored all the suitors present at the event and garlanded the clay statue . Then Prithviraj, who was hiding behind the statue, came out of his hiding and eloped with Sanyukta, taking her to Delhi.
Prithiviraj Was Attacked By Ghori At Midnight
He defeated Ghori in First battle of Tarain in 1191. He freed Ghori when he begged for mercy. Ghori went back to his kingdom and was eager to take revenge. Ghauri attacked for a second time the next year, and Prithviraj Chauhan was captured at the Second Battle of Tarain.
According to a common belief, Rajputs never fought in night because of a tradition. So, Ghori attacked at midnight when Prithviraj’s soldiers were sleeping.
Ghori ordered Prithviraj’s eyes to be burnt with hot iron rods.
He was blinded by Ghori to look straight in his eyes as it was not acceptable for a Rajput to bow down to someone.
Prithviraj killed Ghori in an archery competition with the help of his friend Chand Bardai and he is believed to have killed Muhammad Ghori with “shabdabhedi baan’.
This event is described by Chand Bardai in the couplet, “Dus kadam aggey, bees kadam daey, baitha hai Sultan. Ab mat chuko Chauhan, chala do apna baan.” (Ten feet ahead of you and twenty feet to your right, is seated the Sultan, do not now miss him Chouhan, release your baan – arrow).
After this Prithviraj and his friend stabbed each other and died too because they did not want to get killed by any Muslim ruler.
