These are primary colors that go into printing a multi-colored image and have separate plates. The four dots are registration marks used during printing to help ensure the print is aligned properly.
The colors known as CMYK in four-color process printing are the base colors for creating all the colors we usually see in print. It is used to make sure that all the color are at accurate position. Every color can be obtained from these colors, by mixing them in various proportions.
When a sheet of paper passes through a printing press, and the paper has more than one color. Then printer needs to know that its machine is printing colors properly. So, with the help of these dots only, a printer is able to assures the correct alignment of paper.
Why these dots are important?
It is impossible to check all the pages of the paper physically as lakhs of newspapers are published daily. So, these dots basically they serves as ‘printer’s marker’.
During the printing process, the colors have to fit into their respective shapes and those colored spots. If the images are blurry, these colors overlap or are not in the same line. Its main function is to provide the clue that all colors are being printed properly.
